The Great Green Frog (revised) April 1, 2003

Homework
Once I sat upon a log,
To contemplate a great green frog.
I talked to that green frog,
He was a joyful conversationalist.
"The summer dwindles,"
He proclaimed.
"What shall you do?"
I asked with a gasp.
"I shall visit my cousins,
Down in the south."
We had had much fun,
That long, glorious summer.
We sat and watched the sun,
As well as the stars.
I hiked thru the woods,
While he rode in my pocket.
He told me stories,
Of his youth in the little pond.
He had dreams,
Of becoming a great bull frog.
Able to travel vast distances,
And see the broad world.
But time was drawing near,
For him to leave me forever.
I shall help him pack,
his little grass bag.
I will miss him,
But I know he'll be fine.
