Here I Sit (revised) March 18, 2003

Homework
Watching out the windows
That only face in
Here I sit
Listening to the phones
Where my voice is never heard
Here I sit
Watching my tired co-workers
Struggle thru the night
Here I sit
They seem bedraggled
And frustrated
And here I sit.
I can't help them now
Not with HER in here
But here I sit
She turns her face to me
Glares at me accusingly
And here I sit
The ever-present scowl
Deepens the lines in her face
But still I sit
I ignore her
She won't ruffle me
So here I sit
Time passes on
She wreaks her havoc
And here I sit
Just the two of us
In this little office
Here I don't want to sit
The time has come
For me to move on
And sit here I never will again
NOTE: This was an assignment for my CCV Creative Writing Poetry onsite class with Michelle Demers.
