As the lights come up we see Pierre sitting on a couch flipping carelessly through a script.

Pierre

This is just about the most horrendous piece of trash they've thrown at me yet!

From off stage. The sound of someone knocking on a door

Now how could that be? rising to answer door Who is it?

Monica

It's me, Monica.

Pierre

Darling! Welcome! Do come and and make yourself at home! what brings you here?

Monica

Your newest play.

Pierre

Oh, don't tell me that you're still trying to be an actress!

Monica

Yes I am! I saw a script for the play you're starting soon! I think that the role of Jillian would be perfect for me.

Pierre

Oh, I don't think so.

Monica

You're so bull headed! I am a great actress! Why can't you see that?

Pierre

And what have you been in lately? Hhhmmm?

Monica

Now that's not fair! I just haven't been having any good luck recently, that's all.

Pierre

For two years? That's an awfully long dry spell if you ask me.

Monica

Well, I didn't. Besides, how would you know about my bad luck?

Pierre

Well...

When you never call to tell me about your new acting positions, I just assumed...

Monica

You didn't! Oh tell me you didn't!

Pierre

Why, what ever could you be talking about?

Monica

You did! You bastard! Why would you sabotage my career like this?

Pierre

You just don't understand what it's like out here. Why can't you go and get married and have babies and stuff, like your sister?

Monica

Because I, unlike her, have talent!

Pierre

Well...

Monica

Damn you're eyes! how could you do this to me!

Monica walks off stage and the sound of a door slamming can be heard. Dim lights, end scene.
