Freelance

Sarah wakes up with a hazy head. As she sits up, she glances around herself. Her heart jumps to her throat when she regonzises nothing in the room in which she occupies. She looks to her side, and notices that her love, Jinny, is in fact with her.

Then Sarah sighs with realization as she remembers were she is. Aunt Bet's house. How could I forget that?

Sarah tries to creep her way out from under the covers without disturbing Jinny, but is greeted with a warm hello. Sarah turns back to watch her companion climb out from under the covers. Jinny's nightshirt is stuck to her in, what Sarah thinks, a most appealing way. she looks away when she hears footsteps just outside the door.

"Are you girls up yet?" Bet asks from the other side.

"Yes, Aunt Bet." Sarah replies. "We just got up."

"Are you decent then?"

"We're never decent!" Jinny says, laughing. "But we are mostly dressed."

The old door squeaks as it opens on rusty hinges.

"Well," Bet huffs. "I was just about to give you up for dead!"

"We aren't dead," Sarah replies, smiling. "We're just tired that's all."

"I would imagine, after all that racket you made last night!" Bet says, returning the grin. "I'm surprised you didn't wake the dead!"

Sarah and Jinny look to each other, both trying not to laugh.

"Either way, breakfast is ready when you feel like coming down." Bet turns and closes the door behind her.

To be continued...probably intermingled with my summer course load! Cheers! :-)
